Matt Pryor, the venerable frontman of Kansas City darlings the Get Up Kids, has once again stepped out on his own. Pryor's latest album, 'May Day' is a sunny set of acoustically driven works, complete with heartfelt lyrics and an underlying punk attitude. In May of 2011, the singer found a short amount of time to finish writing and recording his newest endeavor. Then, through the power of fan-generated funding from Kickstarter, 'May Day' was born.

Pryor's new single 'Where Do We Go From Here' is the perfect pick-me-up for your winter blues. A guitar chugs along at a decent pace as a piano plunks out an infectious melody, like a punk-rock Belle and Sebastian. Despite the happy tones, Pryor's lyrics aren't exactly reassuring.

USのエモ・ロック・シーンを代表する人気バンドのゲット・アップ・キッズが、ニュー・アルバム『There Are Rules』を2011年1月25日にリリースだってよ！

2005年に一度解散したものの2008年に再結成を発表し、昨年には代表作『Something To Write Home About』のリリース10周年記念盤と、その発売に伴うリユニオン・ツアーを実施した彼ら。今年4月には待望の新録音源となる4曲入りEP『Simple Science』を発表し、完全復活をアピールしたのも記憶に新しいところだ。

オリジナル・フル・アルバムとしては、2004年作『Guilt Show』以来となる今回の新作は、先述のEPと同様にバンドの〈第6のメンバー〉と呼ばれるエド・ローズがプロデュースを担当。ミックスはシェラックのベーシストとしても知られるボブ・ウェストンが手掛けており、バンドが新たに立ち上げた自主レーベルのクオリティー・ヒルから発売されるとのこと。数年の解散期間を経てさらなる成長を遂げた彼らによる、エヴァーグリーンなエモ・ロックを体験できることだろう。トラックリストは以下の通り。
